Apple's laptops account for 1 in 6 sold in U.S.

Apple's slow but steady resurgence continues, with them gaining small bits of desktop and laptop market share quarter after quarter. Most recently, Apple's laptops have achieved a significant milestone, accounting for more than 1 in 6 laptops sold in the U.S. today.

With June's sales sitting at around 17.6%, not only have their sales increased month to month, but they are growing faster than other vendors. This includes the big three worldwide, which includes Dell, HP and Acer. Despite these good sales, however, analysts are expecting Apple to continue to develop and push in their handheld arena such as with the iPod and iPhone rather than their computers. This probably makes sense, as it is an area where Apple truly dominates and they do not want to lose that.

Somehow, I find these figures hard to believe. Perhaps fabricated of spun truth, I just can't believe that Apple is either doing that well or the PC market is doing that poorly.
