After refreshing its Moto G lineup in June, Motorola is now following up with an update to its entry-level Moto E that brings a few hardware improvements for 2016 at the same low price of its predecessors. With the Moto G4 jumping up to 5.5-inches, the third-generation Moto E is also making the move from 4.5-inch 540 x 960 display to a new 5-inch 1280 x 720 display.
Under the hood you'll find an unnamed quad-core processor, a larger 2,800mAh battery, an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing shooter for selfies, dual SIM support, 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and a MicroSD slot for expanding storage. Unfortunately the announcement doesn't mention anything in the way of internal storage and RAM; for reference, the 2015 model comes with 8GB of internal storage and 1GB RAM.
The Moto E3 will run Android 6 Marshmallow out of the box and will be available in black and white color variants and features the same build with splash-proof nano-coating we saw on this year's Moto G. The phone is set to launch in UK in "early September" starting at £99 in select retailers including Tesco, Amazon and Argos, following the launch of the Moto G Play in August for £129. There's no word on an international release be we'll likely hear more soon.
