The Last Remnant is the only game we have tested so far where the HIS Radeon HD 5850 comes in behind the GeForce GTX 285. Although it was just by a 6% margin, this was a disappointing loss. That said, the 5850 card still managed to deliver 64fps at a 2560x1600 resolution, and was 28% faster than the GeForce GTX 275.

AMD's Radeon HD 5850 was able to reclaim its lead over the GeForce GTX 285 in Unreal Tournament 3. Here the card was 10% faster at 2560x1600 with an average of 64fps. This nonetheless made the Radeon HD 5850 roughly 42% slower than the higher-end 5870, which is the biggest margin we have seen yet.
