Benchmarks: AS SSD Benchmark

When testing with AS SSD Benchmark we see the exact same sequential read performance as we did when using the CrystalDiskMark test. Again a throughput of 503MB/s meant that the Intel SSD 520 Series 240GB delivered typical performance for an SF-2281 based SSD.

Although the sequential write results are slightly lower across the board when using the AS SSD Benchmark opposed to CrystalDiskMark the performance trends do remain the same. Here the Intel SSD 520 Series 240GB was slightly slower than the ADATA S511 240GB while remaining faster than the Kingston and OCZ drives.

This time we find when running the AS SSD Benchmark 4K-64 thread test that the performance of the Intel SSD 520 Series 240GB is quite typical for that of an SF-2281 drive. The throughput of 228.6MB/s made the SSD 520 Series 240GB slightly slower than the OCZ Vertex 3 240GB yet faster than the ADATA and Kingston drives.

As was the case with the CrystalDiskMark random 4K-QD32 write test we find that the Intel SSD 520 Series 240GB is exceptionally fast when running the AS SSD Benchmark 4K-64 thread write test. Here the bandwidth of 231.7MB/s meant that it was the fastest SF-2281 based SSD we have ever tested.

The read access time of the Intel SSD 520 Series 240GB was exceptional taking just 0.046ms making it the fastest SSD we have tested as it just managed to edge out the Crucial m4 512GB and OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS 240GB.

The write access time was not nearly as impressive though taking 0.184ms still made it the fastest SF-2281 based SSD we have tested. This explains why the Intel SSD 520 Series 240GB has provided consistently strong performance throughout or benchmarking phase.
