We can say Criterion Studios has done a very good job with Redline Racer but it still falls short regarding the competition. The biggest problem with redline Racer is that Motoracerhas set the standard for Motorcycle racer with itīs accurate controls, excellent graphics and overall outstanding gameplay.

Although Motoracer is almost one year old it still rules and the only reliable competition for it is Microsoftīs Motocross Madness which only carries Motocross style of racing while Redline racer is super bike only (no, Iīm not a Motoracer fan).

Back to Redline, we can consider itīs graphics are much better than Motoracer, theyīre very, very detailed but youīll need a faster machine to run with everything turned on and at itīs highest detail.

Anyway, what I really enjoyed of Redline racer were those rich exotic locales, they are very colorful, while the tracks arenīt very nice for driving and might be bored for some, all the details around it look superb.
Also consider than other effects like lens flare are included and damn they add a very cool atmosphere for the player, notice that all these features are missing in Motoracer.

Weather effects are also present in Redline Racer, torrential rains, drifting fog or hazardous snow blizzards make of Redline Racer a game with one step further over the damn good Motoracer (Again... no, Iīm not a Motoracer fan, just in case you didnīt noticed it, Iīm being sarcastic)

Redline Racer has 8 motor bikes (plus secret bonus vehicles) and 16 animated (ok, ok not that much) male and female characters to choose from. One of the best features of Redline Racer the track doesnīt limit you at the borders as Motoracer, although sometimes hitting the walls or racing over the grass can result in an anormal reaction of the bike, anyway is cool to see how you can get off the road and see how the bike and the player spin in the air and fell in a building, in a sea or whatever. Another pitfall of that feature is the static position of the player when is in tha air, that just sucks !
Redline also comes packed with tracks in various racing enviroments (Alpine, English Country Lane, Beach, Desert Canyon, City and
Race Circuit).

The physics modeling of the bikes look really good and there are also included some features we just donīt see on other motorcycle games like sparks, smoke and particle effects. There are also headlights which after all doesnīt help a lot for driving but add some etra detail to the enviroment.

Now, bike handling and gameplay, in my opinion this is the poorest issue of redline racer.

The controls are extremely arcade-like which doesnīt even let you enjoy the track but when youīre running at the maximum speed, the game starts to be a linear left and right type of play.

The sounds are just ok on most of itīs part but the engine sound just sucks.

Finally Redline Racer might be fun for a day, maybe a week but then youīll feel really frustated because of itīs limited boring gameplay.
