AI in Shogo is far from being revolutionary, don´t expect brilliant enemy AI like in Unreal where enemies crouch, hide and move around to avoid been killed. But what makes of Shogo a decent game in this aspect is that enemies are located in strategic places to get you down, sometimes you don´t have even time to react when a door opens and they are firing to you, also they seem to like to attack with more than
just one enemy. But there is also some dissapointing acting from enemies, sometimes they keep looking at you, in front of you without firing if you don´t fire them either, anyway that should be fixed with the Point release 2 patch.
Shogo Multiplayer supported in Gamespy 2.03, when the game shipped it had some problems with the Client side or something like that, the game came out with 12 multiplayer levels out of the box while the 2.0 patch added 10 more for a total of 22 levels which is good :) - anyway be sure to get a decent connection or you´ll be dissapointed with your Multiplayer performance.
Gameplay is for me the best part of Shogo, it´s very odd to hear that a First person shooter is addictive somehow but Shogo is, everytime you pass a level you feel thrilled on what will be shown in the next level, in my opinion FPS games are going somewhere else, looking for more interaction that the old style of shoot to whatever that moves old games. Duke3D and Quake were boring games, just keep firing at enemies, walk around the level and that was
it, Shogo is a much more interesting game and you´ll stay playing it for hours and you´ll want even more.
If you are a FPS freak as I am, be sure to get this one.... !!!
Highs: Addictive, excellent graphics, variety of gameplay, runs ok on lower end machines
Lows: Just decent AI
Conclusion:
If you are a FPS freak as I am, be sure to get this one.... !!!
