Now select Advanced & edit the options available here.
Texture Filter. Trilinear
will give the best image quality but take up a few MB’s of
your graphics card memory. FAKK2 uses a lot of textures; as
such I’d recommend you set this to Bilinear.
This will free up some video memory for all these textures. If
you are using a 32MB+ plus graphics card you might be able to
set this to Trilinear & enjoy the better image quality.
Although even then some maps use over 32MB of texture memory.
See
the r_texturemode
"x" setting for more detailed information on
settings available.
Shadows.
Choices available here are None (No shadows), Simple
(Basic circular) & Complex (Volumetric shadows).
Performance is lower when shadows are enabled. See the cg_shadows
“x” setting for more information.
Curve
Detail.
Use this slider to increase/decrease the amount of polygons in
curved surfaces. See the r_subdivisions “x” for more detailed information.
Model
Detail.
Use this slider to adjust the level of detail in models in the
game. Slide the bar to the right to increase detail & vice
versa. More detailed models may mean reduced performance.
Crosshair
Scale.
Use this slider to adjust the crosshair scale.
Camera
Stiffness.
This slider can be used to adjust the stiffness of the camera
from your character. Slide the bar to the right to
increase the stiffness & vice versa. The stiffer the
camera is the more rigidly is will stay in position behind
your character.
Camera
Distance.
This slider can be used to adjust the distance of the camera
from your character. Slide the bar to the right to
increase the distance & vice versa.
Camera
Height.
This slider can be used to adjust the height of the camera
from your character. Slide the bar to the right to
increase the height & vice versa. I’d recommend leaving
this about half-way.
Camera
Displacement.
This is similar to the Camera Height setting although
it can be used to achieve a much greater vertical height than Camera
Height can. Slide the bar to the right to increase
the height & vice versa. I’d recommend leaving this bar
fully to the left.
Enable GL Extensions.
Tick this to improve performance. Unticking it
should be seen as a last resort to try if you can’t
get the game to run. Performance will be significantly lower
when set to Unitcked as well.
Use
Vertex Lighting.
Untick this to enable Lightmap lighting of
levels (real-time). Tick this to enable Vertex
lighting, which is faster but uglier (static).
Dynamic
Lights.
Tick this setting to enable the dynamic lighting
of maps. This will reduce performance, although looks better
visually. Untick it to improve performance.
Multitexture
On. Tick this to enable multi-texturing, this can improve
performance. Untick this to disable
multi-texturing.
Comp.
Vertex Array. Leave this setting Ticked.
Screen
Size. Use this to select the screen size of the game, this is different to
running full screen or windowed. Using a smaller screen size
may improve performance, although will making viewing the game
more difficult. I’d recommend leaving this set fully to the right,
to run with maximum viewing area.
Special Effects Detail.
Use this slider to increase/decrease the level of detail in
special effects in the game. Slide the bar to the right to increase detail, potentially reducing performance & vice versa.
Use GL fog. Tick
this to enable volumetric fog in FAKK2. This will give
improved visuals (effects like fog & space filling)
although will reduce performance. Untick this setting
to disable volumetric fog which can significantly
increase performance.
Wall Decals. Tick
this setting to enable marks on the ground/walls being
displayed. Untick this to improve performance. Although
this is somewhat dependant on how bad your aim is.
Crosshair. Tick this setting to enable the use of the crosshair. This can help
aiming accuracy. Untick it if you want to rely on vision alone.
Mouse Filter. Tick this setting to enable
mouse filtering. This will average out mouse input –
resulting in smoother mouse movement.
Console. Tick this setting to enable
the use of the console in FAKK2. This can be used to input
console commands during the game.
Mini-Console. Tick this setting to enable
the use of the mini-console in FAKK2. This can be used to
input console commands during the game.
Notepad. Click this to open an in-game
Windows Notepad. Useful for writing down notes when playing
the game… possibly.
GFX Info. This
section contains no changeable setting, it just contains
purely informational, errr, information related to graphical
options.
