Graphics CFG
Open
your Config file
using Notepad & Add/edit the following
lines. Search for the following lines & edit the x
value as appropriate;
com_blood "x". Set this to 1
to enable the display of blood in FAKK2. A setting of 0
will disable the display of blood. Useful for improving
performance in fights or just a parental content control.
cg_3rd_person
“x”. You can use this setting to toggle between the 3rd
person & 1st person view modes. Set it to 1
to enable the 3rd person view (default). A
setting of 0 enables a 1st person
view mode, although this should only really be used for
testing/experimenting purposes only as the game is meant to be
played in the 3rd person view mode.
cg_draw2D "x".
Give this a value of 1
to enable 2d items to be drawn. Items such as the HUD
would fall into this category so leave this set to 1.
cg_draw3dIcons "x".
Set this to 1. This will enable the display of 3d icons in the game. When
set to 0 items will be displayed as sprites.
cg_drawCrosshair "x".
A value of 0 will remove the crosshair, which will make aiming making more
difficult. Leave this setting alone.
cg_effectdetail
“x”. Valid values for x are 0 – 1. Higher values will increase detail in special effects, potentially
reducing performance & vice versa.
cg_gibs "x".
Set this to 1
to enable the display of gibs in FAKK2. A setting of 0
will disable the display of gibs (limb removal
generally). Useful for improving performance in fights or just
a parental content control.
cg_marks "x".
Set x to 1
to enable marks on the ground/walls being displayed. A
setting of 0 may
improve performance a little. Although this is somewhat
dependant on how bad your aim is. I’d recommend setting this
to 0 for online play.
cg_shadows
“x”. A setting of 0 disables
shadows (recommended). 1
enables, basic, circular shadows. 2
will enable light volumetric shadows. 3
will enable dark volumetric shadows. Enabling
shadows will reduce performance. See the r_stencilbits
"x” setting
further on for more information.
cg_simpleItems "x".
A value of 1 will disable
the display of 3d models for items, instead using 2d icons in
their place, this may increase frame rate on older videocards.
0 enables
the display of 3d models for items, which will make image
quality better.
r_allowExtensions
“x”. This is the same as the Allow GL Extensions
setting, leave it set to 1 (enabled).
r_allowSoftwareGL
"x". Set x to 1 to allow software rendering of the game.
Although this really is an extremely bad idea unless
you absolutely cannot run the game with your current
video card. Get a new video card if this is the case, or try
updating your drivers. Leave it set to 0 at all other
times.
r_clear
“x”. Leave this set to 0 (default).
r_colorbits "x".
Use this to set the colour depth. Leave it at 16
unless you have a card that supports 32-bit colour output (In
which case you may select 32). Performance is slower in
32bit than 16bit though.
r_depthbits "x".
Use this to set the texture color depth. Leave it at 16
unless you have a card that supports 32-bit colour
output. I’d highly recommend selecting 32-bit texture
quality & using 16-bit color depth for the best image
quality/performance trade off.
r_detailtextures "x".
Set x to 1
to will improve texture quality when up close. Setting it to 0
will improve performance. A detail texture is a very small, fine pattern
which is faded in as you approach a surface, for example wood
grain, or imperfections in stone.
r_displayRefresh
"x". Use x to set your refresh rate in the game.
It is recommended that you set this to the highest
refresh rate that your monitor can handle at a given
resolution. With vsync enabled this value also limits
the highest frame rate you can achieve. You shouldn’t set it
any higher than the highest refresh rate your monitor can
sustain at a given resolution.
r_drawSun "x".
A setting of 1 enables the sun to be drawn. It won’t improve performance
much if set to 0
although it will remove a few lighting calculations in areas
where the sun is visible.
r_dynamiclight "x".
A setting of 1 will enable the dynamic lighting of maps, e.g. the light
surrounding an explosion. Improve performance by setting this
to 0.
r_ext_compress_textures "x".
Set this to 0 (default) to disable texture compression support (slower,
but better visuals). This is only for S3TC texture compression
so if you have an S3 card, are using the 5.xx or greater
nVidia drivers or have a Voodoo 3, 4, 5 or ATI Radeon
installed then you should set this to 1. Texture compression can vastly improve frame rates,
although will cause some visual degradation in certain
areas of the game, e.g. the sky may become pixelated with
texture compression enabled.
r_ext_compiled_vertex_array
“x”. Setting this to 0 may fix a problem with flickering
textures in the game. Ignore this setting if you experience no
such artifacts.
r_ext_multitexture "x".
Set it to 1 to enable
multi-texturing, this can improve performance. 0
will disable it.
r_fastsky "x".
A setting of 1 will remove the sky texture. I’d recommend leaving this set to 0
unless you’re on a really slow system.
r_flares
“x”. Set this to 1 to enable light flares in the game, this allows effects such as light flares to
occur. Setting it to 0 will improve performance.
r_fullbright
“x”. Set this to 1 to enable lightmaps when r_ext_multitexture
“0” (disabled) is set. This will improve visual
quality although performance will be reduced.
r_gamma "x".
Default is 1. Increase this to make the game brighter. The brighter the visuals
the more washed out the textures will look. Adjust this to
suit your own needs, performance isn’t affected either way.
r_glDriver
“x”. x sets the driver which is used for rendering
FAKK2. 3dfx card owners may wish to select 3dfxogl
rather than opengl32 (potentially improves performance
slightly).
r_ignorehwgamma
“x”. Set this to 1 to ignore external gamma settings for
your graphics card. This may allow you to fix problems in the
game where you can’t get the brightness slider to increase
brightness in the game.
r_intensity
“x”. x sets overall RGB intensity, higher values will
effectively increase brightness although textures will lose
some of their quality.
r_lightmap “x”. Set this to 1
to enable Lightmap lighting (real-time). Setting it to 0
will enable Vertex lighting, which is faster but uglier
(static).
