Audio
Giants
supports EAX although it is disabled by default. To enable (Or at
least have the option to use) EAX support, perform the following steps.
-
Insert
Giants CD 1 into your CD/DVD drive & open the Giants\EAL folder
on the CD.
-
Copy
all the files in this folder into your Giants directory, e.g. D:\Giants.
-
Right
click on your Giants shortcut & add this setting into the Target
field -snd3d, e.g. your Giants shortcut will now appear as follows,
D:\Giants\Giants.exe -snd3d. To disable EAX support, delete the –snd3d
setting.
Click
on Options, then Sound Options. NOTE – If you have not performed
the above steps then Reverb & Occlusion will be Unavailable
for selection.
Sound
effects volume.
Use the slider bar here to set the volume level for
sound effects in the game. Moving the slider to the Right will increase
the volume level, & vice versa.
Music
volume. Use
the slider bar here to set the volume level for music in the game. Moving the
slider to the Right will increase the Music volume level, &
vice versa.
Reverb.
Set this to On
to enable reverb effects for improved audio quality (More realistic). You
can improve performance by setting it to Off,
this will disable the reverb effects.
Occlusion.
In real-life any sound source is affected by any
material/object/terrain that it may pass through.
Setting this to On
will enable such occlusion effects for improved audio realism. You can
improve performance by setting it to Off,
this will disable the occlusion effects – recommended if you have a
slow CPU.
You
can further improve your audio experience in Giants by taking a look at our Soundcard/Speaker
Tweak guide to setup your Soundcard settings & Speakers properly.
Controls
Click
on Options, then Mecc\Reaper\Kabuto
Control Configuration.
These sections control the keyboard/joystick/mouse buttons used for actions in
Giants, change these as you see fit.
Adjust
Mouse Sensitivity.
Moving this slider to the Right can improve
mouse responsiveness along the X & Y-axis (Horizontal & Vertical)
although may make more accurate movement awkward due to the extra
responsiveness. I’d recommend leaving this set to the default position
unless you find your mouse to be too slow or too fast to react to
movement.
Turn
Invert Mouse. Set
this to On to
invert the Y-axis of the mouse. This means pulling back (towards you) on
the mouse will result in looking up & vice versa. Set it to Off for
your view to change accordingly with the mouse movement, e.g. pulling back
(towards you) on the mouse will result in looking down. Currently this setting
appears to have the reverse effect of what the setting actually implies
however.
If
you are using a Mouse (Which most of you will be) you can find out how to
further tweak that device in our Mouse
Tweak guide.
