Display (Continued)
Now
select the Texture resolution option.

Overall.
This option can allow you to select pre-defined settings for the
sliders beneath. Id recommend you ignore this
setting altogether & use a Customized setup as shown
below.
World/Weapons/Characters/Props/Special
effects/Sky. Sliding these bars to the Right will allow
for sharper - higher resolution - textures to appear in the game (For
each specific setting), although performance can be lowered
(Especially on low memory graphics cards). Moving the sliders to the
Left will result in more blurred lower resolution -
textures being used in the game. This can improve performance.
Click
on Options, then Performance & select the Special
effects setting.

Tracers.
Set this to On to enable tracer ammo to be displayed.
Tracers display the path/trail a bullet takes & where it hits
This can reduce performance, although can help with aiming,
particularly if you are using no crosshair. The shot below shows
tracers enabled.

Set
this to Off for optimal performance, particularly if you are
using a crosshair.
Shell
casings. Set this to On to enable the display of
shell casings when weapons are fired. This can reduce performance,
particularly in heavy battles where many guns may be firing.
For optimal visual quality (More realistic) you should set this to On
& for optimal performance Off.
Muzzle
flash lighting. When set to On this enables the use
of dynamic lighting when weapons are fired. This setting has a dual
effect in that setting it On looks good & can give away an
enemys position if they are firing from afar. Those with slow
CPUs should set this to Off for best performance.
Weather.
Set this to On to enable weather effects in NOLF, such
as rain or snow. You can improve performance by setting this to Off,
although this will reduce the atmosphere of the game somewhat on some
levels.
Weapon
impacts. This setting controls the detail level of weapon
impacts, e.g. bullets hitting against a wall. Options available are
Low, Medium & High. Setting it to High
will result in more detailed weapon impacts although performance may
be lowered (although this is semidependant on how bad
your/their aim is) & vice versa.
Debris.
This setting controls the detail level of debris from explosions,
e.g. Blowing up a car. Options available are Low, Medium
& High. Setting it to High will result in more
detailed (Or greater amount of) debris from explosions although
performance may be lowered & vice versa. Seeing as explosions
will generally already lower your frame rate Id recommend
setting this to Medium.
Make
sure to take a look at the TNT/GeForce,
Voodoo3
or Voodoo4/5
Tweaking guide for information on how to optimize the
performance/visual quality of those cards. These may help you improve
image quality/performance even further than in-game tweaks can.
