No One Lives Forever Tweak Guide

Game Options

Click on Options, then Game.

Subtitles. Setting this to On will enable subtitles in the game, Off disables them. You should only really need to set this to On if you have problems hearing the speech, or have disabled sound.

Blood. Setting this to On enables blood splatter to be drawn. Selecting Off will disable blood being shown in the game. This can improve performance slightly in heavy battles.

Fade bodies. When this is set to Yes models which are killed fade out almost immediately after their death animation. This can improve game performance, particularly during heavy battles or areas where you have killed many. That said in areas which require a certain amount of stealth, e.g. Berlin, these bodies are visible for the purposes of security cameras. As such you should set this to No in such areas so that you can use the Body remover to hide bodies from the cameras.

Always run. When set to Yes run will be set as your default movement type, as opposed to walking. Set this to No to use walking as your default movement type.

Difficulty. This setting controls game difficulty, set this as you see fit for your own abilities.

Heads-up display style. Use this setting to change the HUD displayed as required, i.e. have Health & Ammo counters displayed as bars or numbers, or a combination e.g. Health bar, Ammo bar.

Head bob. This slider determines how much your head bobs/sways while moving. Move the bar to the Right to increase head movement & vice versa. I’d recommend setting this fully to the Left to disable head bobbing.

Weapon sway. This slider determines how much your weapon bobs/sways while moving. Move the bar to the Right to increase weapon movement & vice versa. I’d recommend setting this fully to the Left to disable weapon bobbing.

Pickup message duration. This slider determines how long inventory/weapon pickup messages (What you collected) are displayed. Move the bar to the Right to increase the length & vice versa.

Objective messages. Set this to Yes to have the Mission Objectives Updated message displayed whenever this occurs. This won’t effect performance, although you should leave it set to Yes to be informed of such updates. Hit the O key to view your objectives.

Crosshair. Select this option to customize crosshairs options.

Use crosshair. Set this to On to enable the use of a crosshair in-game. Obviously this will make aiming a lot easier. If you enable the use of a crosshair then I suggest you disable Tracers as they are rendered pointless as a result. Set this to Off to disable the crosshair. If you have set this to Off the options below are irrelevant.

Opacity. Move this slider to the Left to increase the level of opacity (transparency) for the crosshair, & vice versa. Sliding it to the far Right will disable the opacity effect. This can improve performance on many graphics cards.

Red/Green/Blue. These sliders control the RGB level for the crosshair. Move a slider to the Right to increase the intensity of a particular colour & vice versa. Adjust these sliders as you see fit.

Dynamic scaling. When set to On this enables the dynamic scaling of the crosshair size (Increasing in size during movement). Set this to Off to disable this effect, which can also improve accuracy slightly.

Style. This setting allows you to choose from a variety of different crosshairs.
