Game settings

Open Options & select the Game tab. You can use this tab to customize your HUD, either for information displayed, or to improve performance.

Gore Level. With this setting you can reduce the amount of gore displayed in Rune. This is useful as a parental control, or it can be used to improve performance during heavy fighting. Settings available are Normal, Reduced & Ultra-Low. Set this to Reduced/Ultra-low for improved performance during heavy fighting (less gore is displayed).

Game Speed. This setting controls the speed of the game. 100% is the normal speed, although if you wish to speed up action & such then try sliding this to the Right. Should you find the action to hard to keep up with you should slide this to the Left.

Dodging. Tick this setting to enable dodging & vice versa. You can dodge by double tapping on certain directional key, e.g. double tapping strafe left.

Auto Pickup. Tick this setting to enable the auto-pickup of items (Well, anything which would otherwise require you to hit the Use key). Untick this setting to disable this.

Subtitles. Tick this setting to enable subtitles in the game. Unticking this setting disables them altogether. Useful if you have problems hearing what is being said in them. Performance won't be affected if enabled.

Pain Flashes. Tick this setting to enable the screen to flash whenever you are hit by the enemy. This is useful if you play with the volume low or need to be aware of any damage you take. Untick this setting to disable screen flashes.

Amount of Debris. This setting controls the amount of debris to be displayed when an object is destroyed, e.g. After destroying a barrel. Slide this bar to the Right to increase the amount of visible debris chunks & vice versa. A lower setting can improve performance in such situations.

HUD Opacity. The level of opacity will be displayed in the box on the middle of the HUD tab & the opacity will change as you adjust this slider. Sliding it to the far left will disable the opacity effect. This can improve performance on many graphics cards.

Game Interface. Tick this setting if you wish to display the HUD (Heads Up Display). For optimal performance Untick this, although you’ll have no information displayed as a result. I’d recommend leaving this Ticked & instead remove unneeded options as shown below.

Context Sensitive Help. This setting controls whether or not a descriptive text appears when you are moving over different settings in the Options menus & others. Tick this setting to enable the display of such text, although that defeats the purpose of why you are reading this guide ;). Leave it Unticked.
