So I have the 1g, can I put that together with the 256mb or do I have to install it separately?

Some motherboard's can be finicky about mixing RAM modules, but I hardly ever come across a situation where I can't install two mixed capacities/frequencies.

Be aware that if each RAM is operating at a different frequency, your motherboard will automatically run all modules at the slowest speed.

I didn't want to reread this entire thread, so if this isn't the case sorry .
