will a 64 bit xp pro work on a quad core comp thats currently running vista 32 bit? and does it really make that much of a difference?

I dont think it does make any difference except to give you many more incompatibility problems. Most sensible people would give it a miss for those reasons alone.

Remember MS are doing their best to get rid of XP altogether in favour of Vista, so if you insisted on going 64-bit for some genuine reason like having a 64-bit application you MUST use for (say) video editing, then you should be looking at 64-bit Vista - XP-64 will not be getting a lot of attention from MS.

Just some info

32 Bit is slowly being phased out.

But I agree with gbhall, better to purchase Vista 64Bit

Do i need a 64 bit processor or will the quad core that i have be ok?
Please put your System Specs in your Profile

If you have a proprietory computer like Dell; HP; Acer etc, please manually write this in the mobo field (ie Dell Dimension 3100 - as an example)

Waiting for specs ...

Sorry for delay, I had to restart my computer !

Intel® Core™2 Quad processor
Intel® Core™2 Duo processor
Intel® Pentium® Duo processor

Yes it will take 64Bit
And I knew this 10mins ago!!

I have also cleaned out all my temp files in the restart too.
