No it’s required to protect software from piracy. There used to be no DRM, then piracy became a thing and activation keys started and then pirates started spoofing those so more DRM had to be implemented. The only only punishing legitimate consumers are those who can’t restrain themselves from being dicks, as per usual.
Not really because if DRM and anticheat weren’t basically required for a game to be profitable and playable then games would effectively last forever, however again we can’t have nice things because dickheads want to be dickheads and say “uh it’s a victimless crime” **** off
