Ad Aware

So I've probably asked this before but I cant remember. I have AVG 8.0, the new one but I was wondering if I still need Ad Aware then. The free program for that. Because AVG is supposed to scan and protect against Adware so do I need Ad Aware as well?

Hi :

You did NOT mention the SPECIFIC AVG 8 program you have !? Assuming it is
the antiVIRUS ONLY, you should supplement that program with antiSPYWARE/
antiTROJAN program(s), Ad-Aware being One of those . However, nowadays,
Ad-Aware is NOT a top antispyware program ( I used to help out on their Support
Forums ) and the recommended programs of this "type" are the FREE Version of
"SUPERAntiSpyware" from www.superantispyware.com AND the "Free" Version of
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, best downloaded from
www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php . Also advisable to use the FREE
"SpywareBlaster" from www.javacoolsoftware.com . And for general "maintanence"
use the FREE "ATF Cleaner", developed by antiSPYWARE Expert "ATribune" and
available at his Site @ www.atribune.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=25 .

I have both installed. Avg will not catch everything, so what it misses Ad-aware might catch.
