Altered Carbon becomes the latest show to fall under Netflix's axe

After looking at some more sources today for this story and looking at Netflix's recent history they cancels shows even with a strong final season.

I listed a few shows in my previous post that fit that.

Trust me I wish the show continued from how successful season 1 was and going into a season 3 it was one of my favourites for stuff that is recent.
You really cannot compare the Marvel shows, that was Disney being asshats.

I wish Netflix could get the rights to remake or finish the Sarah Connor Chronicles, just watched it again after 10 years and it’s still amazing and left us hanging on a massive cliff-hanger. One of the best shows ever and the worst decision in TV history to kill it off.

A lot of excellent and very successful shows get cancelled these days, it seems, and I am tired of trying to make sense out of this, to understand why the hell they cancelled another good show.

They previously cancelled The Expanse, only to resume it one year later. Before that, they cancelled Forever, which I loved. And so on, there were plenty.

And Firefly - perhaps the most successful show that was prematurely cancelled.

At the same time, so much trash just keeps lingering on, season after season of endless pain and disgust, with each next season worse than one before.
Yeah RIP Firefly, I barely watched it a few years ago. Holds up. If they actually aired it in order and not during the major leagues... I'd imagine it would have been a smash. There were so many lame corny sci fi shows back then, I can understand why it was overlooked. Even though I actually watched most of the old corny shows. I really doubt whoever cancelled it actually watched the entire season. Or maybe they were like well we can put a reality show on for 1/100 the cost...

Altered Carbon, I liked season 1. Put season 2 on the back burner. I get that the new guy is a new sleeve or whatever, but I really liked the original actor. The show wasn't like omg this is the best anyways. Barely above watchable. Cringey plot holes\writing at times.

Damn,

I really enjoyed Season 1, Season 2 was ok but not as good as the first season and then they drop the show.

This is starting to become a habit with neflix what other shows have they dropped recently.

Altered Carbon — canceled after 2 seasons
Ozark — canceled after 4 seasons
Lucifer — canceled after 6 seasons
Marvel's Luke Cage — canceled after 2 seasons
Marvel's Daredevil — canceled after 3 seasons
Marvel's The Punisher — canceled after 2 seasons
etc

Like what is the point getting invested in these shows when you know they will only last 2-3 seasons.
They cancelled the Marvel stuff because they were losing the IP.

Actually I am surprised there isn't a Sandman series considering they are in. The same universe as well as Constantine.
Constantine's been on Legends of Tomorrow for a few years. A spin-off show, Constantine, would be nice to see, preferably on Netflix.

Nobody mentioned “The OA”?

That show’s cancellation was shockingly unexpected. I still can’t believe no one wants to finish that story.

It was the first time I saw and enjoyed a Faith-fiction show, a genre I never knew existed before.
The OA is cancelled?! I hadn't heard, though having seen that last episode I did wonder as to how on earth they were going to continue it and still make some kind of sense.
As for Altered Carbon, I didn't enjoy it and I started it twice.
'Rubicon' (pre Netflix I guess) now there's one that shouldn't have been canned, or 'Soap' :D

I can't say I care too much after the very disappointing season 2.. Without Joel Kinnaman it just wasn't the same, the plot jumped all over the place, and trying to remember which character was in which sleeve all the time frustrated me. Plus the characters were pretty damn boring and didn't develop at all. It all just turned into a disjointed mess that I just stopped caring about a couple of episodes in.

First season I pretty much binge watched.. 2nd took me weeks. No doubt their algorithms see this also among multiple viewers, so the axe it cometh.

Never invest in FANTASY

Oh, thank God. That season 2 was a disaster. Bad acting by everyone involved except the powerful chick (I forgot already). NOTHING like the first season where they weren't trying to appease the "woke" and where the protagonist has an actual personality.

Typical Netflix, cancel the good shows and not cancel the vast majority of garbage. No wonder people are moving away from them.

I don't mind them cancelling as long as they wrap things up properly. With Sense8 they made a film to finish things up. It wasn't perfect but it does at least give you an end and eases the yearning for more, unlike with Firefly for example.

1st season was almost perfect but they totally ruined the whole ending because it was too predictable and totally weird, like his sister <did something> and she expected him to stick with her? WTF was that writing for 9y.o. or what?

And 2nd season was just horrible.

Totally expected.

Why I like the genre its always fascinated me.
I am glad you still enjoy it. One day about 45 years ago I realized SF and Fantasy books were junk while in the middle of one. I have not been back since but there was a time...

Iron Fist
Jessica Jones
Defenders
Gotham
Shannara
And sooooo many others GONE!

I've never been more upset with netflix.

Netflix is trash, I can't remember finishing something over there. Canceled The OA (really hurt this one), canceled Altered Carbon, cancel Sense 8, Cancel The Expanse (thanks to amazon is still running) , I'm keeping the subscription because of Last Kingdom and the movie I watch there from time to time.

I loved first season. But after watching few episodes of the second one, I had to check again what show I was watching. They said it themselves, second season started loosing viewers.
I know why. Lesson: when you make something decent, you need to keep the quality.
It was a smart move after such uninteresting second season.

Lucifer is still on season 5, with the second half "coming soon". Season 6 was announced recently. But, it might be the last one for Luci. Time will tell.
I was excited to hear netflix picked up Lucifer for a 6th season. Even if that is the last season, 6 years isn't a bad run for a show, and I was disappointed that it was canceled so it's a nice surprise that it will get another season even if it's the last one. I named my cat Lucifer because I love that show...and because it annoys religious morons like my father. ??

At one point on Netflix it said there was another season coming and then, poof, suddenly nothing. I would love a final season or even long episode to wrap that show up as well as sens8.

They did finally release that? I've been looking for that and now I'll have to check again today because I am bored and loved that show.

The concept of Altered Carbon was brilliant but it's exicution wasn't the best. The first season overall was better but I think that was more the setting. The second season, stayed in one location for too long and it know it was more to do with that the stack tech was originally from that planet but it just got boring quick, which is ashame because the acting was spot on.

As for people slagging off netflix tv shows theres been plenty of good netflix tv series, including ozark, house of cards, stranger things etc, although house of cards still bums me out because I loved it but when I found out about the spacey stuff it left a bad taste in my mouth :(
