I like the 2950X part, but I already own a delidded i9-7900X system that performs quite well for me.
Honestly, my two i7-8700K boxes game just as well and cost much less to own.
Once the 2950X part comes down in price I may get one of them.
Was hoping to come across a fellow i9-7900x owner that also had 8700 - I don't find my 8700, nor 8086 able to turn the frames that my 7900x does with either my Titan Xp nor 2080 Ti (now) - wondering what video card your using for gaming?
The 2080 Ti is actually sizable the difference as if somehow its filling the pipes on 8086 vs 7900x in games (cod WWII, BF1/BF V).
I day trade, so its other use for same PC that game with right now.
-------I have a pair of GTX-1080 FE cards in SLI inside the i9-7900X system.
One of my i7-8700K boxes has a pair of GTX-1080Ti cards in SLI, and the other has two GTX-1070Ti cards in SLI.
The 8700Ks are both clocked higher than my 7900X is, so they score a little higher in benchmarks.
All three game perfectly.
2950X hangs pretty close (both ways at times from reviews all around web) to 2700x - so are you saying all AMD products offer less than desirable gaming results?
I'm saying exactly what I said, if you are building a gaming PC and buy 2950x instead of a 2700x then you can't complain about the lack of gaming performance difference between the two chips.
UPDATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Really hope for future readers in 2019 that this was due to a driver error in the time of testing that really crippled the Thread Ripper NVIDIA fixed this and it changed everything for the 32 core owners!
