It just says the boot selection failed because a reqd device is inaccessible.

Well, if restoring factory image doesn't work, then I see no other possible culprit than hardware issue.

It cant be...my computer was good until I changed the MBR ~ I am doing a Win Memory Diag Tool now. I just bought this PC last summer. It is a good PC never had any hardware issues....systemax 4gb ram...2.6ghz intel pent dual core. I dont know how this happened but windows will not start. I appreciate ur help but i think im screwed

Look, I wish, I had some miracle answer to your problem, but I don't.
If fresh Windows installation doesn't work, it must be caused by some hardware issue.
Unfortunately, I don't see any other explanation.

Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287 (or http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28744&hl=hard+drive+diagnostic)
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD (select "Write image file to disc" option), and make the CD bootable.
For Toshiba hard drives, see here: http://sdd.toshiba.com/main.aspx?Pa...rivesUSandCanada/SoftwareUtilities#diagnostic

Note : If you do not know how to set your computer to boot from CD follow the steps here

=====================================================================

A. If you have more than one RAM module installed, try starting/running computer with one RAM stick at a time.

NOTE Keep in mind, the manual check listed above is always superior to the software check, listed below. DO NOT proceed with memtest, if you can go with option A

B. If you have only one RAM stick installed...
...run memtest...

1. Download - Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip
2. Unzip downloaded memtest86+-....iso.zip file.
3. Inside, you'll find memtest86+-....iso file.
4. Download, and install ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/
5. Insert blank CD into your CD drive.
6. Open ImgBurn, and click on Write image file to disc
7. Click on Browse for a file... icon:

8. Locate memtest86+-....iso file, and click Open button.
9. Click on ImgBurn green arrow to start burning bootable memtest86 CD:

10. Once the CD is created, boot from it, and memtest will automatically start to run.

The running program will look something like this depending on the size and number of ram modules installed:

It's recommended to run 5-6 passes. Each pass contains very same 8 tests.

This will show the progress of the test. It can take a while. Be patient, or leave it running overnight.

The most important item here is the “errors” line. If you see ANY errors, even one, most likely, you have bad RAM.

Ive been working at this issue for over 5 hours and am just exhausted. I will attempt to get a CD or two made w/ the recommended progs tomorrow when I can access another PC.

Im not sayingt ur wrong about there being a HW issue...im simply saying that i experienced no issues w windows starting until i typed in the cmd prompt to Fix Mbr... i know a bit about computers but this is far passed my capabilities... i may just have to call a techie out to help. Thx for ur help but sometimes it doesnt work out...unfortunatley for me this time it didnt.

I fully understand your pain.
I'm really sorry we can't fix it at will, but unfortunately this is what sometimes happens with machines.
I reset MBR on number of computers, day in, day out around here and on other forums and somehow, today, I have two very similar issues. Your computer and another one on this very same forum.
Unfortunately, in both cases, I see no other explanation, but (coincidentally) as some hardware issue.
Let's put it this way.
IF...IF you have a hard drive issue, MBR will get reset successfully (software-wise), but because of the drive issue, it won't be written correctly causing not bootable machine.
I'm sorry again and, please, keep me posted.
