Apple reveals Vision Pro AR headset, arrives early next year for $3,500

Not sure you can use this on a plane. Doesn't have a headphone jack, only those speakers everyone can hear?
I know one reason why. People have very different ears that can hurt a lot due to different shapes of headphones. People use headphones that fit their ears.
Have you ever noticed how there are often many discounted headphones from most popular brands? People return them very often, and often for this reason.

Given that this effectively contains a MacBook and two 4K monitors and allowing for the usual Apple Tax, $3500 doesn't actually seem any more unreasonable than what Apple successfully sells iPhones for.

If I was still doing 5 or 6 long-haul flights per month I could see the benefit and justification for one
On a plane (plugged in to a power socked) with the immersion dialed up to 11...that could work

The price is the kicker. While it will sell because people who have deep pockets would like to try, but it's going to be a fad in my opinion. If Macs are not selling well because of software compatibility, and absurd upgrade price, then the same will apply to this. And for 3.5 grand, running a M2 in 2024 (when it becomes available) is just not worth it. Furthermore, it is very advance but battery tech and life is not keeping up.

I bet after watching that Meta can have a sigh of relief. Yes it's impressive but at $3500 no one in their right might is going to buy one unless they have more money than sense.
I think you will be surprised when they reveal how much profit this made them after their first quarter of sales. The same people who buy their $2000 phones every single year will happily run out and buy this just for the bragging rights if nothing else.

Planes have power sockets now and allow you to plug in whatever you want and drain whatever amount of power you want? Wild.

This doesn't improve productivity, for consumption it doesn't improve anything a regular monitor/tv does.

$3500 to look like a fool

Absurd price! On top of that I want nothing on my sweet eyes. Thank you!
These guys from Apple are more greedy than those from Nvidia.

"Planes have power sockets now" = yes, 110v AC 3-prong universal is common, available at all seat locations.
"allow you to plug in whatever you want" = no, only what you are allowed to bring into the cabin.
"drain whatever amount of power you want" = no, most airlines limit each seat (or shared socket) to 75 watts.
Batteries themselves are typically limited to 100 watt-hours each, although some airlines now go up to 160Wh.
I doubt Apple released any power and battery spec's for the Vision Pro but considering their recent power efficiency focus there is a chance 75 watts might suffice for continuous use...only the Apple folks know for sure.

While Apple's Vision Pro offers impressive resolution and innovative features, its high price and limited battery life might deter potential buyers. Will it truly live up to the hype and revolutionize the VR and AR market
