Build Advice: 16GB or 24GB RAM?

Hi All,

About to buy a gaming laptop and have my eye on the MSI GP63 Leopard 8RE.

My budget is fixed, so I need to decide between:
16GB DDR4-2666 RAM w/ a 512GB SSD OR
24GB DDR4-2666 RAM w/ a 256GB SSD

The other specs of the laptop are as follows:

8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H
1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It would help us too know what you plan on doing with this laptop, I.e. gaming, video editing, rendering, etc. If gaming is the priority 16 GB is more than enough.

That would be enough for you, however I suggest increasing the hdd space and split it between 2 partitions.

Yep 16 gigs is more than enough and with the 1 TB hard drive + a 512 GB SSD you are good to go with both RAM and storage space.

24GB 32GB mostly for video editing or graphic design

Don't ask me, I'm still happily using 8GB.

My laptop has 512gb hd and after 5 years STILL has plenty of freespace - - considering I have gigs of pictures, website server software and test sites, that's saying something.
