Building a new 3D modeling workstation

I need to build a PC for this upcoming fall semester. We have been given guidelines to follow by the school but they are very open-ended, and could use some assistance.

The pc will be running programs such as Rhinoceros 4.0, Autocad, 3DS Max, Adobe CS5, etc.

I was hoping to keep the price range of this computer between $1000 - $1500.

Students entering 4th year Architecture will begin rendering and using other resource intensive applications. The college requires the purchase of a high-end desktop computer. Many students choose to have these systems custom built to better fit their needs.

Example minimum specs for 2011/2012:

Intel® Core™ i7
12 GB+ Memory

2TB Hard Drive

DVD±RW Drive
Dedicated ATI or nVidia video adapter with at least 1-2GB memory
Wireless Network Adapter
Windows 7 ® Home Premium (64-bit)

I need assistance in the bold areas. There just seem to be so many things to choose from I don't know where to begin.

Thank you in advance!

Hayden
