Hello guys, can some one tell me exactly what will happen if I install Gygabyte Nvidia Geforce GT710 ddr5 2gb on a system with amd athlon x2 64 4200 dual core 2.2 ghz and 4gb ddr2 ram the psu is 450w and the motherboard is https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/K9N6PGM2V ?? I dont have gpu because the one I had its fan stopped working... tell me evrything that will happen I need every info I that there is.

It will work just fine. The motherboard you listed has 1 PCIe 1.0 slot which will support the GT710 even though it is a PCIe 2.0 card as the PCIe standard is backwards compatible. The worst thing that will happen is that your motherboard will bottleneck the GPU by cutting it's performance down to PCIe 1.0 speeds and the CPU will bottleneck it even further as it is no longer a powerful CPU and the generation gap between CPU and GPU is quite big. Other than that you will have a fully functional PC. Simply download the respective driver for the version of windows you are working with and install it.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the motherboard also has an Nvidia southbridge. Ideally it will be far more compatible with Nvidia GPUs but I am sure it will work fine with AMD GPUs as well. You're in the clear on that end as well.

I would not trust it. I own a nvidia gt 240. it gives me issues is some of the older rebuilds that I put together. so if you have not bought it, make sure you can take the gt 710 back for a full refund.

I havent bought it yet, but of what you said, I can use the pc as normal but just cant play new games, that is it or it will slow down every aspect of the pc. And also im thinking of buying a new cpu in the future, but it will not be soon maybe. Or maybe I should look for another gpu?? I wanna play sone games with it and want it to be atleast 1gb, can it be?

You will be able to play some era appropriate games for the CPU but nothing much beyond that. If you truly want to game then consider purchasing a modern pentium setup and throwing in a gt 1030 instead. The PC you mentioned is more geared towards getting you by for browsing the internet and playing older games.

Legend has it if you buy this card and you put it into the pci express slot.
A. when you power on the machine it will explode.
B.when you power on the machine it may not work.
C.You install it and don't sweat a thing and it works fine.

Go with answer C, the gt710 doesn't require alot of power, however when you get more money over time.
Buy a better psu so it can support higher end graphics card.

Yeah you will be able to play any game you were playing before. Maybe even newer ones at that. You'll just have to experiment a little. Low profile shouldn't affect anything. Best of luck and have fun!

Medium high settings is the best he can hope for, but his old athlon 64 x2 4200 will bottle neck him in newer end games over time.
@Uchiha:egend I recommend you look for good used socket am3+ parts to hold you over until you can afford to buy better parts.

Read those two links I provided it will give you something to look forward to and when you finally get fed up with your old system lagging badly.

He already said he can't afford much and he is only concerned with playing games he has already been playing. He doesn't game much. Also, he'd be better off just building a coffee lake Pentium system for casual/light gaming with a gt 1030 or possibly a 1050/Ti if he can find one that's affordable. AM3+ (FX series) are not worth purchasing anymore. They're also still overpriced for the lack of performance. A G4560 single-handedly beats an FX 6300, imagine what a G5600 is capable of doing.
