I am trying to reformat a Portege p3500 for my brother's g/f. I have an external usb dvd drive and a copy of XP ready to go. The problem is I cannot get into the stupid bios. I hit esc, during the toshiba boot screen and get the following message. "check system. Press F1" when I press F1 it just goes right back to the toshiba boot screen and from there loads xp. I have looked other places on-line and supposedly pressing F1 accesses the BIOS. Doesn't seem to work for me. I am stuck please help

Boot XP, get into the Control Panel, System, Advanced... choose Startup and recovery Options... and check the timing settings for going into Windows and into recovery options. Set going into Windows to 0 seconds and recovery options to 10 seconds. De select automatic restart and send an administrative alert while you are in there. Try the F2, F10 and DELETE keys
