CD burner/disc drive troubles

Yesterday I was burning a CD from iTunes and I decided to let it burn while I did some chores. When I went back to the computer, I saw that my little brother plugged in his iPod to charge it. However, since he plugged it in while it was burning, the process got messed up. Now the CD drive won't open (unless i use the paperclip-in-the-hole trick) and the burner is not working. A notice popped up on iTunes saying the burner was being used by another program, but I didn't have anything else pulled up. My mom uses this computer to burn presentations so I need to fix this asap. Thank you for your help.

So did you unplug the iPod? Go into Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager and right-click on the problem drive. remove it. Restart the computer and see if the drive is automatically reinstalled and working properly

cntr-alt-delete to find out what other program is using the drive.

perhaps the ipod had viri or an autoloading program that installed on the system
