...steam (or any other game service) don't download at 100mbps. You have so many upstream variables including what server you are downloading from and how many other people are also downloading from it.

Mbps stands for Megabits per second.
MBps stands Megabytes per second.

Example
Speedtest.net uses Megbits per second Mbps (also your cable companies advertised rate)
Steam displays Megabytes per second MBps. (also your web browser and torrent downloads)

There are 8 bits in a byte. If you have a 100 Mbps down connection. Steam will show 12.5 as your max download in MBps.

Explaining this to customers used to be my never ending hell. Especially those self proclaimed tech savy people.

I do understand megabits per second verse megabytes. You obviously fail to understand why download speeds from steam servers are much slower then download speeds from test servers like fast.com. Perhaps if you spent some more time educating yourself about the vast amount of network speed apps out there you would understand you don't need to stare at your steam app to get mbps; you would not embarrass yourself so easily.

Show us a screen shot of your max steam and fast.com download speeds? Then explain why your not getting your maximum speeds on steam.

Fast.com only uses Mbps, so if you are comparing that to steam.... Show us a screen shot of you max steam and fast.com download speeds? So we can understand how smart you are.

This will be a shock to you but you don't actually have to look at fast, ookla, or steam to see your Mbps. You can use apps such as the ones most router brands offer that show your Mbps...or you can get out out a pen and paper and do some mathematical conversions (I would strongly encourage use of a calculator for you).

Here's a better idea for you before asking people to post pics of their router info, go check out the steam download stat page or learn the difference between mbps and megabytes, something you obviously fail to understand.

Your real tech savy, I bet you call your isp all the time and complain about slow speeds.... It's not your connection that's slow....

P.S. Steam can easily sustain 1000 Mbps

P.S.S. btw you can change your steam setting to Mbps just like I did in that screen shot.
