Asia Matters: CXMT is once again trying to steal the spotlight from the world's largest chipmakers. The Chinese manufacturer is apparently entering mass production of its latest DRAM platform, potentially putting it on par with Samsung and other major players in the memory market.

ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) set the stage at the 2026 World Manufacturing Convention by announcing its latest advancements in chip manufacturing. The Chinese corporation has officially begun mass production of its fifth-generation DRAM technology platform, which is apparently delivering significant gains in both efficiency and competitiveness.

CXMT said that the new "G5 Platform" will provide the company with industry-leading memory manufacturing technology. Its process capabilities can rival the industry's most advanced mass-produced nodes, CXMT stated. The company also highlighted the G5 Platform as a major milestone in its corporate history.

The technology breakthroughs introduced with the G5 Platform include a new self-aligned quadruple patterning (SAQP) technology, with an active-area half-pitch of 11.95nm for memory arrays. The new technology is expected to help close the gap with the most advanced memory platforms available from other industry players, CXMT stated.

Furthermore, the G5 Platform has been re-engineered through the adoption of novel material integration, reaching an array capacitor aspect ratio of 45:1. The technology also implements a DRAM-optimized high-k metal gate process, shrinking the core cell array height to exactly 6,762nm.

CXMT developed the G5 Platform by first creating a "digital twin" of the technology, allowing it to create new approaches to design, tape-out, manufacturing, and yield management. The company said these "virtual" research and development efforts can significantly accelerate the creation of more complex DRAM process models.

The G5 Platform can provide a 50% improvement in die-per-wafer density, which should significantly improve power efficiency. For now, CXMT is using the new DRAM technology to mass-produce two new LPDDR5X products targeting smartphones, laptops, and other portable computing devices.

These new chips offer a 24Gb-per-die capacity, which is 50% larger than the previous generation. CXMT said the G5 Platform will "meet global demand, delivering next-generation memory products with high performance and robust reliability to support the global digital economy."

The Chinese company is also playing an increasingly important role in the struggling memory chip industry. Market valuations are exploding, while Apple could use CXMT's chips in its wildly popular consumer electronics products. The chipmaker is preparing for further growth by increasing wafer output to never-before-seen levels.

More the merrier in DRAM. The established players are squeezing out consumer products to focus on the latest fad and it’s allowing someone else the funds to steal market share in that sector. Hopefully once the data centre craze fizzles it drops their profits for the long term
Too bad you won't see any of this RAM if you're American since the Orange Turd is bent on squeezing out foreign businesses and shoveling all profits into American companies. So they'll be banning imports of these chips using their usual (and hilarious) reasoning that they use for pretty much everything they don't like: national security concerns.

Also, wait until the MAGA-tards wake up and see this article. It's going to be all Chinese spy hardware this Chinese slave labor that.

That’s even better. America gets what it votes for and we get cheaper RAM.

Somewhere an Apple exec is checking how uncomfortable the politically loaded semiconductor evaluation is worth compared to actually shipping a phone with RAM in it.

Sorry ma'am, his TDS is terminal, we'd recommend MAID.

Meanwhile in the real world, the biggest market for consumer memory is China, not the US. And while Trump may bad the use of Chinese memory in the US, that doesn't affect the rest of the world, and a flood of Chinese memory will still suppress us prices because the us cannot absorb the big 3s production on its own.

Hi Europe here we'll have all your memory thanks China. We used to think you were the bad guys but somehow in just 2 years the US has turned into a lunatic asylum and despite your whole regime being built on authoritarianism and suppression of rights you are the lesser of two evils now.

He'll ban Chinese memory while letting big companies bribe him for exemptions, and raise tariffs on the stuff we can actually buy.

At least we are great again tho.

Amazing isn’t it

And so sad. And worrying too - every day the world destabilises a little more under the current insane administration. Now talking about invading Cuba... all while they are still embroiled in a conflict in Iran which has caused chaos up and down the middle east. Canada trying to join Europe to escape the madness - you couldn't make up a plot so deranged.

They will only sell to China based AI in the next few years. The demand for memory in china AI farms will exceed CXMT's production ability in the next few months now that hbm/hbf and ARM based AI nodes are rolling off the lines for chinas upcoming ai war with everyone that they will win.

Trump has done more good for China relations to the world than China has done in the last 25 years.

Make
Asia
Great
Again

Oh boy, your projection is on full display here. I find it hilarious that Trump supporters go around saying EVERYONE who dares to say anything bad about the Orange Turd has TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) when in fact it's YOU and everyone who voted for Trump that is DERANGED and should be heavily medicated in a mental institution.

Despite the nonsense that the Orange Turd is spewing CONSTANTLY telling you how the whole world respects the US now (laughable) and how it's the "golden age" (lol) for America, and everything is the cheapest it's ever been (lol), in fact the entire world hates your country and your president. Your country is a global laughing stock. Even America's closest allies no longer trust your country. Let that soak in for a minute.

I'm sure you have TONS of Fox Propaganda talking points to prove me wrong, but don't bother. I couldn't care less about anything you have to say. You're a Trump voter, you don't matter to anyone except maybe to other Trump voters. Enjoy your cult and the long lasting damage the Orange Turd has done to America's credibility on the world stage.

They’re going to sell LPDDR5X to data centers? Whixh fictional data centres use that?
