CIA deployed secret "Ghost Murmur" AI to track down missing airman in Iran

This is clearly the US government trying to bluff the Iranians (and anyone else I suppose) into believing they have such a system, but it's laughable, not least because this has clearly been deliberately 'leaked'.
You think the Iranians aren't going to be intimidated by aircraft carriers, fighter jets, spy satellites, and smart weapons .... but will be by a system that can hear a man from miles away ... as long as he's alone stranded in a deserted desert? What sort of thought process is this?

Seriously, what is wrong with you people? We have private firms today openly demonstrating far more mind-boggling uses of ML-enhanced DSP than this. Yet you seem to believe this is some sort of mystical, half-magical 25th century tech?

Oh please, you sound like some kind of far fetched American spy movie. They're 10-15 years ahead and somehow none of that ever leaks out...
Some of it just did.

... or gets stolen.
We have a few dozen people in prison right now for stealing some of it.

You know, the same government who couldn't keep something as simple as a presidential BJ secret
The government actually managed quite succesfully to keep that secret. If they'd only told Monica Lewinsky her oral cavity was classified, eh?

im about 99% sure the harness worn even after ejection will contain a burst transmitters for ''pinging'' status and that ping is used to narrow down a location...

google AI says :: Downed pilots safely reveal their position using secure, low-probability-of-intercept (LPI) electronic devices, such as the Combat Survivor Evader Locator (CSEL) radio, which transmits encrypted GPS coordinates via satellite without voice, appearing as background noise to trackers. Pilots also use clandestine visual signals like signaling mirrors during the day or pre-arranged, limited light signals at night to avoid detection by enemies.

Key Secure Methods:

CSEL Radio/Personal Locator Beacon: The primary, secure, rugged device sends encrypted bursts of data, including precise location and status (e.g., "injured," "enemy nearby") to rescue forces, avoiding continuous signals that can be triangulated.

Direction Finding (DF) Equipment: Rescue teams use aircraft-mounted equipment to tune into the specific, encrypted frequency of the survival radio to pinpoint the airman's location.

Satellite Messaging/Data Link: Modern systems allow texting or data transmission between the pilot and the combined air and space operations center, ensuring the pilot can stay silent.

Visual Signals (Low Signature): In daylight, a signal mirror is highly effective, low-tech, and silent.

Pre-arranged Signals: The pilot may use limited, pre-negotiated signals (visual or electronic) only when they know rescue assets are already on-scene, rather than transmitting continuously.

My money is on the pilot very carefully using CSEL in a way to not get caught...
This was more interesting than the article... :>)
