Computer wont boot

Hey i have a Compaq laptop every time i turn it on it goes to the screen where it asks do you want to start in safe mode regular start last good know con fig so on dosn't matter which one i pick it goes back to that screen after showing the windows logo any thoughts thanks

Run CheckDisk from the Recovery Console using your Windows Setup CD

their is no windows cd the person the computer belongs to didn't burn the boot cd's when they bought the computer

Ya i saw that after posting guess i should read first thanks

I have downloaded and burnt three different disk's now and none of them will bring up the recovery console

i found out that her disk drive is not working i hooked up my external drive and it is booting up now i will let you know how it goes
