Cursor Jumping/Freezing Momentarily

  1. I am running XP Pro SP3. I have noticed that over the last couple of days that my cursor will momentarily freeze, or that audio will stutter for a second or that the keyboard will not make the characters I type in then all of a sudden display them all at once. I am not sure what is causing this. I even tried a fresh install of XP, and it began immediately. I notice also that CPU usage jumps up in the 70-80% range but it is so fast and brief that the process that is doing it will not come to the top of the list on the task manager, so I can't figure it out. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Is your install on a board with an AMD processor? There have been large numbers of failure reports with SP3, on certain boards with AMD processors, and some HP computers.
You might try uninstalling SP3, and use only SP-2 plus downloads to see if things improve.

Ray: Got it. My board is a 975X. Flaky Marvell SATA RAID driver. Update fixed it. Thanks for your help.
