Replacing its Inspiron 11z, Dell has revealed a new AMD-based 11.6-inch ultraportable notebook. The Inspiron M101z starts at £379 and ships with a 1366x768 LED-backlit display, an Athlon II Neo K125 single-core CPU, ATI RS880M integrated graphics, 2GB of DDR3 1333MHz RAM, a 250GB 5400RPM HDD, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

The next base unit jumps to £429 with a dual-core Athlon II Neo K325, while the £499 unit doubles the system memory to 4GB and bumps the storage to a 320GB 7200RPM HDD. Common specs include three USB 2.0 ports, 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g/n, optional Bluetooth 3.0, HDMI and VGA-out, a 3-in-1 card reader, a 1.3MP webcam, and a 6-cell battery offering up to 6.5 hours of life.

The Inspiron M101z is under an inch thick at its thinnest point and weighs 3.44lbs (1.56kg) at its lightest configuration. Apart from the color, warranty and other trivial options, the machines listed above are basically sold as is. We haven't seen anything about when the M101z will ship to Americans, but the competing HP Pavilion dm1 is priced at $450 so expect Dell to target that budget.
