Dumb question, but will a 4x PCIe M2 card make my SATA drives faster?

I just purchased an M.2 adapter card (4x PCIe) to add support for M.2 drives to my old MoBo. The card also has two SATA-III ports on it.

I know the answer is likely "No", but will connecting my SATA SSD drives to this card provide any performance boost over using the SATA-III ports on my motherboard?

Follow-up: I'm new to this whole "M.2" thing, but I'm figuring it out.

It appears only the lower (M key) card is connected to the PCIe x4 slot. The upper (B key) socket must be connected to the MoBo via the Sata connector. "B key" cards only operate at standard Sata-III speeds (or so it appears.)

So, to answer my own question, connecting a Sata drive to that connector won't do anything because it is not connected to the slot. :(
