DVD footage no longer reading on PC

Hey guys!

I shot a short film in 2007. Used a friend's mini-dvd cam as I didn't have my own at the time. Edited on Windows Movie Maker and everything was great. I still have the same PC, but I did install a new dvd/cd drive as the old one wore out. At some point in there, I deleted a lot of raw footage (including this particular film) to save space. I did make a dvd copy of the original and thought that would be sufficient.

I'm now wanting to post the film online, but discovering that not only will the original dvd I made not play, but even the mini-discs of the raw footage just sit there in the drive. No prompts. Nothing. If you try to open the drive, it just shows that nothing is in there. CDs will play. Professional DVDs will play. But my film (and the original footage) does nothing.

I have Windows XP. The footage is on mini-dvd-rw. And the copy of the edited film is on a dvd-r disc.

What could be the problem?

Thanks so much!
