DVD region code/video system

I burned photos and video images on Memorax's DVD RW that I purchased at Staple, and sent it to my family in Japan. However, they couldn't open DVD and see any images. Does a blank DVD disk also have region code and/or video system (NTSC/PAL)?

not that i have heard, a DVD is just a media storage tool the same as a pendrive or external hard drive.

Its possible that they may have accidentally blanked the dvd without realising it or the images and video are in a format they cant open, it may be that you didnt close the session when writing the images to the disk..

or...they only have a CDrom on their PC and as such it wont see the DVD,,seen that before.

Just some thoughts

It's also possible their playback device doesn't support RWs - I've seen that before with many devices.
