It's not really distorted, it's just not the American idea of it. The only things that I think should be censored are lies. As long as something is provably true, then it should never be censored.

Not all Americans think that way, although, I am beginning to wonder if the right will advocate for a US version of "The Morality Police." After all, that is working out really well for Iran ATM.

I can't stand people who call themselves "woke" and I'm a social democrat. The people who refer to themselves as "woke" aren't really on the left even if they self-identify as such because they don't operate like a social democrat.

People talk about "Freedom of Speech" but there's a much better term that should be embraced instead and that is "Freedom of Truth". If someone can back up their words, I have no issue with it. If they can't, then they shouldn't be allowed to spread it. I mean, just look at the damage to society that people listening to and believing lies has done.

Yeah, I don't think that he's referring to liberals or social democrats. He's referring to the people who have hijacked causes to further their own agenda.

I think that he's referring to what I like to call "reverse-authoritarians" who try to control thought exactly the way authoritarians do. Their values are better than those of conventional authoritarians but they invalidate themselves completely with their iron-fisted measures and often are only using left-wing values to try and subvert the left for their own purposes.

I have long recognised these people as a threat but the media, as they do, loves to show everyone the crazy extremists who help nobody.

Yeah, well, truth is like logic. It's true or false, yes or no, 0 or 1. Truth does not have emotion and is not affected by what someone wants to be true.

Like, consider how many people in the US were adamant that the US election was stolen simply because they were told that it was. The lack of evidence meant nothing to them, it was purely about their feelings, an irrational emotional response based on their desire for it to be true.

Lies aren't only about which side of the political spectrum you're on either because the Overton Window of each country is different. What is considered left or right in one country is often considered to be the opposite in another. Personally, I agree that Joe Biden is a TERRIBLE president and human being, just not for the insane reasons that the Republicans fabricate. You see, there are ACTUAL reasons that Biden is bad but Republicans won't use those because they're often reasons that Republicans like. Just check this out:

Now, anyone who lives in a country with universal health care knows that he's lying his *** off but since Americans have NEVER known universal health care, they don't know that it's all lies. Biden is better than Trump, sure, but that's setting the bar as low as it gets. He's still a snake, a piece of garbage who lies to his people for his own benefit and the benefit of his rich friends. This is why I don't believe that the USA will survive to see 2030 in its current form.

When both parties are in the back pockets of the rich, it's only a matter of time before blood revolution happens. This is exactly what happened in France when the first estate (The Monarchy) and the second estate (The Church) allied together against the third estate (The People). There's only so much that can take place before the oppressors are removed from existence forever (brutally killed). This is because sooner or later, they'll reach a point where nobody will be on their side.

Well, my belief is that the scientific method should be applied to everything. When a scientist has a theory, it must first be reviewed by other peer-level scientists whose job is to poke holes in it. If they're successful, then the theory cannot be published. Only when the theory is solid enough to survive objective scrutiny can it be published.

This is where "Freedom of Speech" falls flat. The scientific method exists because it's understood that false theories can be incredibly harmful. The same is true for socio-politics. Belief in something that is objectively false creates discord and can ultimately result in war. I know that it's really hard to control what people say but the media is another matter. If the media was forced to actually be "fair and balanced" (and MSNBC is just as guilty of it as Fox), then the current political divide wouldn't be what it is. Instead, the media says whatever they want to keep the masses divided while actually serving their rich corporate overlords. I've seen barefaced lies from Fox, MSNBC and CNN but the people who watch them eat this stuff up and believe it blindly. This causes so much damage to American society that it will result in a socio-political catastrophe.
