Enthusiasm for electric vehicles wanes among US buyers, despite new choices

I've got 2 big problems with them...

1) Charging when I'm on a road trip. Look online -- you can't just stick your debit card in a slot and buy electricity. You have to install an app, sign up, sometimes deposit cash into the app, then it says "which charger are you at?" and the chargers aren't properly labelled, and there's some of these charging networks where some of the chargers don't work AND the app will falsely claim they are fully functional. It'd be total maddness if you had to sign up for a different account for every gas station chain, but this is de facto what is going on with chargers.

2) UI issues. Other than Hyundai and Kia (more or less), it seems like every company making an EV is also like "while we're at it modernizing the drive train, let's also strip out all the controls and put everything on a touch screen." Having to stare at a touch screen and go through menus to change the radio volume, change wiper speed, or even to turn on a turn signal? That's a BIG nope to me!

I think the rules on EVs are too strict. We need to have smaller vehicles with higher speeds than 25 mph. 35 mph is more practical for city/suburban driving. Why are we behind on this? Other advanced countries have better choices than we do.

You're talking about a different form of EV from the type you have to get a license plate for.

Only different because of our insane rules. If they can do it in Europe, they can do it here. And you still would need a license plate!

I would also like to mention that I have read that bigger EVs are going to tear up our roads as they are heavier than their gas counterparts and there's not yet taxing infrastructure to pay for that. And, they cost more than the smaller ones. You lose in so many ways with the current situation.
