Epson will stop selling laser printers by 2026, but why?

Inkjets are slow and the ink smears, or dissipates when even a tiny bit of liquid makes contact with the paper. Sure laserjets use a little more power, but just about every other aspect of it lasts longer. No thanks Epson, I'll stick with my trusty 20 YEAR OLD HP 4100 laser printer that still works perfectly fine. 20 years, how sustainable is that Epson??

Inkjets are horrible junk, R.I.P epson
my dad used to have a inkjet, now he has laser, why? superior reliability
a friend of of my dad used to have inkjet, now he has laser why? superior reliability again
I now have a inkjet that I got for FREE and I would paid to get a laser instead after all the stupid issues I have with it 😂

the moral of the story is "having printer issues? get a laser and most of the issues will go away!"

my father has a hp p1102w laser, still works fine and he bought it like 10 years ago too, so I agree lasers are glorius!

I used to work for a company that made a RIP for color copiers and "Wide format Ink Jet" printers. The inkjet manufacturers would essentially give away a Wide Format Ink Jet printer because they knew that anyone that they gave a WFIJ to would have to buy ink from them. They made money on the supplies (ink). My bet is that Epson is thinking they will do the same with this, however, they are not going to outright admit this.

I bought one of their printers and it was trash... returned it for a brother.
I also have brother, bought it used, been printing (low volume home & eBay use) for last 4 years, still plenty of toner left.. And it came with second brand new toner in the box, looks like I won't need that for next couple at that pace. And id*iot Epson want to sell me subscription-like scam-ink cartridges at 1000x the price of my used laser Brother (which was one-off purchase and it will last a decade), no thanks...

I often also print in ecco mode saves insane amount of toner. not that I really care but when printing things that have a short shelf life it doesn't need to be perfect I use ecco. I once out of curiosity wondered about font use there's hundreds of websites out there that test fonts on ink use... I somehow remember some fonts were made for ink saving purposes mileage may vary if you want to get crazy with it.

Yes I think that's what I use, eco mode in Brother. Everything is fine in that mode, never had a problem.
I print more pre-generated PDFs with fonts set, so customizing fonts would not save me a lot, if I ever go that route.
But fact cannot be beaten, Brother is a workhorse and one toner last ages, I will never revert to inkjet printer unless I receive it for free.
