Valve should have bought Oculus, or at least Microsoft or someone even remotely involved in PC/Gaming space... I agree with everyone on here this makes no sense unless FB will stay hands off and just offer clout to help sell units, but still there's little clout in that market for them to utilize. Who knows, hopefully they just saw Oculus as the next evolution of gaming displays and figured why not sit back and cash in. Oculus + Farmville seems like a stupid idea to me, we'll have to wait and see.

Is this what everybody on Kickstarter put their money towards. Giving Facebook another disposable asset to ruin? Anybody who put money into this should be extremely hacked off right now.

so, fb users could control the drone via whatsapp then the controller itself is oculus rift?

I once thought this was gonna be a revolutionary product, now not so much.

Yet he put $10,000 into the kick starter...

He is the only one to come out and say it, I would place a decent amount of money on others following, Big companies like Google, Microsoft and Facebook have a way of buying decent companies and ruining them, not all the time, sometimes they thrive, but that's more the exception than the rule.

and yet the companies facebook bought did not get ruined.
I still don't understand why facebook buying the company betrays the kickstarters? does it matter who owns them? the kickstarter did what it was supposed to do, it allowed prototypes to be built so that their small company would grow big enough to revolutionize gaming. this is exactly what's happening. growing from 2 mil to 2 bil goes to show what initial funding can do for small companies.
you should be glad that oculus now has the funds to compete with the titans of the gaming industry like sony, microsoft and nintendo.

This scares the hell out of me. I don't want the direction Oculus is heading but I fear FB may try to change its path.
