2 advanced bios features -1st boot devise "SCSI

problem being is number 1 as i do not have the option to choose SATA

any idea's how to solve this prob please

Are you actually using a SATA hard drive?

Are you trying to isntall WinXP on your SATA HD?

Also, under the boot devices, select SCSI, not SATA as the first device ;)

You probably need to enable the Onboard H/W Serial ATA and the Serial ATA Function in the Integrated Peripherals section.

The manual I downloaded says:

On-chip SATA:

Disabled Disable SATA controller.
Auto When there is no device to be plugged in IDE1 or IDE2, SATA controller will
remap to IDE controller.
Enabled Set SATA Mode manually. (Default Value)

So if you would want to boot from SATA drive and don't have devices in IDE1/2, you could set SATA to "Auto" and then set boot device to IDE1 or 2.

It's not uncommon for new mainboards (or any other products) to have inconsistencies in manuals. Usually they'll be sorted out in later versions, perharps in form of BIOS updates.

You just have to set SCSI as the first kind of device in the boot order.

If you don't have the SATA driver file, you should also download it from the drive's site, because Windows XP doesn't have the drivers.

If you were installing Windows on a bare hard drive, you would have to place the driver file on a floppy disk that can be accessed by Windows before it installs, because Windows can't load the drivers itself, because it doesn't have them to load.
