1. [parsehtml]

There are clearly a large number of young children that use Android considering the wide selection of apps tailored for them. Developers like Crayola and PBS Kids actual spend the time in most cases to create fun and entertaining experiences for kids, and now Google is going to help them standout from the pack.

A new program is being put in place for Google Play which will allow willing developers to have their apps designated as being specifically made (and appropriate) for children. The goal of the new Designed for Families program is to help parents discover new, high quality content that is age appropriate and to make more informed choices overall.

Google has outlined some of the requirements an app must meet before it receives the “family friendly” designation. One of which is that it must carry an ESRB rating of Everyone or Everyone 10+, as you would have imagined. Others include specific login limitations like forcing youngsters to use Google+ Sign-In or Google Play game services, as well as a series of specifics on how and what ads are displayed within the app. You can view Google’s requirements & ad policies for the program here.

The new program is open for submissions starting now. Those interested should visit the Google Play Developer Console where teams will review submissions to verify they meet the Designed for Families program requirements.

Permalink to story.

[/parsehtml]
