ok, iv been through about 4 pages of this, and cant find anything to help... i have a dell dimension E5 and i have a radeon E330/E550 running windows xp media center edition. I have also just reformatted the harddrive, and needed to instill sound and internal wireless drivers too. I have been to the AMD website, and downloaded both the full graphics driver, and just a display driver, and neither have worked. I've checked the hardware acceleration and everything, and nothing seems to be helping... are there any other ideas as to what the problem could be and possible solutions?

Could you double check your Dell model and graphics model? I can find no such models.

(wont let me post a link... gay) here is the homepage from dell for the computer, and its got a driver list and efverything, but none of the drivers work... its my g/fs computer, and her brother has the exact same one, and i tried downloading the exact same rivers, updated drivers for that card and everything... all of this just happened yesterday after i formatted her hardrive... i cant find a driver that will work, we just got done trying to install a new direct x9.0c, and thats notworking either

if you go to the dell website, and click on support<technical support it should bring up a box that gives you three options, choose select model, its a dimension desktop model e510 (but its equivalent to a 5150), and its near the bottom... from there you can find all kinds of different things, such as drivers that came preloaded on the computer from the factory, specs, anything you need to know... i just want to get the computer to work, casue if i cant get it to, then it defeated the whole purpose of reformatting the drive... thanks for helping though

now this is where i get confused... ive been there, thats the first place i went to, is the factory site, and downloaded the e330 drivers for the graphics card, and it didnt do anything... it will download, and then the red ATI screen flashes for a second, and doesnt work... i got on her brothers desktop (the same make, model, and everything) and the driver version is 8.203.0.0 Also dont know if this helps any but on her computer, in the device manager, under display adapters, nothing shows up. Her brothers computer says its a radeon E300/E550, with the driver version 8.203.0.0... We know the games will work, because she had some installed on there before... i was reading in another forum about the memory being set down to 0 when it needs to be at least 32 or something... how would i go about checking/changing that also?

So you have done all the Dell Drivers to begin with (as per my link)?

If the other computer is exactly the same
Then you can use DriverGrabber on that machine
Then copy all the drivers to USB Flash (or CD)
Then go back to the faulty computer, and manually install all Drivers from Device Manager
(Start->Run->devmgmt.msc)

how do you save the drivers to the USB flash? also, i downloaded it on my computer (a third one that works just fine, but not in the situation), and looked at the txt file, and it skipped all of the drivers on my computer

Then copy all the drivers to USB Flash (or CD)
Then go back to the faulty computer, and manually install all Drivers from Device Manager
(Start->Run->devmgmt.msc)

Actually CD is preferred
In Device Manager (ie above info already given)
Right click on device
Update the drivers
Don't search online
Manually select a location
Put the CD (or USB) in
And update the drivers

By the way, this is all on the idea, that the other computer is exactly the same hardware

heyy i am trying to play sims2 on my computer and it downloaded fine, but when i tried to play it it said, "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer." I don't know what to do and i am not very good at using computers. The following is my computer types:

any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

I know this thread is uber old, so I can only hope that someone is still reading it!

I bought Sims 2 many moons ago and played it and loved it. In December, I got a virus and had my hard drive completely wiped. When I went to reinstall Sims 2, I couldn't find it! So I just recently went out and bought the Sims 2 Double Deluxe version and installed it. I'm getting the same message as everyone else about not having a video card that's DirectX 9.0c compatible. I have installed all relevant Windows Updates, and have also updated my graphics card to the best of my knowledge. My graphics card is an Intel 915G running on Windows XP. Running the DirectX Troubleshooter shows that my DirectX is working fine, and that version 9.0c is installed.
