GTA 6 publisher Take-Two expresses concern over review bombings

They have no intention of playing the game or ever playing it, their only purpose is hateful takedowns of anything that has women, minorities or any reference what so ever about LGTBQ.

Hell, they lost their heads over a unisex bathroom in the new dead space game. The only way you even know is if you look at the little sign going into the bathroom when exploring. I played through the whole game and didnt even know that was what was going on. But when I went to the forums, oh man were people losing their crap over a bathroom sign.

Hogwarts, Starfield, Aliens dark decent, dead space remake to name a few. Nearly every forum for every game has a thread "is this game woke". I feel people have forgotten that games are meant to be fun/ entertaining. The mish mash of considerations complicates the fundamentals of games.
And the most illogical thing is that you know people don’t like it, but they persist/ triple down in adding things that people don’t like at their own cost. I really don’t see the rationale. To me, "woke", or something "going woke" is when something, like entertainment media (movies, games, TV shows) deliberately change existing lore and retro fit an "LGBTQ+" "politically correct" and "ethnicity diverse" agenda to absolutely everything they can. The Acolyte TV Show and the Hulk TV show are great examples of this.

Having a female lead definitely isn't what all the outrage is about, I would ague princess Leia in the original movies was more of a main character than Luke, Luke was a frustrating character in comparison. We have plenty of video games with female leads.

I have to say, Hogwarts I actually really enjoyed, the only bit that really annoyed me was the fact I couldn't call my character my own real life name... why? Because it had "hell" in the name... even something like "Michelle" is banned... And it's a single player game... Literally nobody to offend other than myself. Stuff like that, I consider taking it too far, why age rate the game for 13+ but then put impossible-to-bypass "mature" filters for 3 year olds? Even a toggle in the settings menu would have been fine.

Even if I agree with the message I still don't want to hear about politics. Games aren't a soap box for a political agenda. I've never came home from work, booted up a game and thought, "wow, I'm really happy that the developers incorporated strong views on this political issue."

While escapism isn't healthy I certainly think it's healthier than being force fed a bunch of nonsense.

I also don't think it's necessarily just that a producer or developer incorporates strong views into something. It's that everything and everyone seems to need to make a statement about something with "normies" having zero time to decompress from more immediate problems.

There was an article I've seen somewhere about one ex-dev saying that GTA 6 is the same game as gta 5 but looks much better.

I think that might be their fear of review bombing. We have seen other publishers get their share of **** reviews for being the same game. All Ubisoft games for example.

I could see people saying it's bad just cause it's the same game with nicer graphics.

1. Woke means something different for what seems everyone. Im aware of what it means. Labelling things like acolyte as woke is exactly what im talking about. Black women lead, show is immediately labelled as woke because they are not allowed to be a lead char. Any inclusion whatsoever. Lets just ignore the how many white lead star wars shows? I dont watch hulk but I did watch the acolyte and enjoyed it without any thoughts of me being marginalized as a white male. Thats just a way for insecurities to show face and reinforces what I am saying is going on. The technical meaning of woke is just to be aware of social injustice. Its now used by a large population of folks to describe anything that includes women or lgbtq or basically anything that isnt straight white male. They will tell you this themselves. Just ask them to describe what it means. Most get banned from any public forum for describing what they view as woke because they cant do it without violating some community guideline.

A game showing a gender neutral bathroom sign is not pushing an agenda. A game offering pronouns to help folks who want too use them is not pushing an agenda. Just set them to what you want and move on with your life. My point here is we can FIND something woke about ANYTHING now days and thats what folks are doing and driving review bombing because of it. Everyone just makes it out to be political. You cant have games now days without something being called political or woke. Its just a simple fact. Just go randomly to any recent game released on steam, go to the forum and search for the word "woke". I think you will see what I mean if you start looking into it. You could have a yellow wall and someone will attack it as woke.

Games always had politics in them. Thats how they create stories. Factions war, groups fight, political battles happen. Without it you will struggle to create interersting stories and characters with motivating actions. Do I need to highlight all the games based on fighting arabs, russians, germans, etc. How about all the competing factions in RPG's such as skyrim, oblivion etc. Saying games didnt have politics in them is just being completely disingenuous to what actually has happened.

Hogwarts suffered from the woke bomb as well. I agree the name filter is ridiculous but that is present in a lot of games. I know some games you cant even use the word "pest" as its filtered out by the filtering system they use. Im not sure that is something that is "woke" but more content filtering issue.

I think GTA is going to have politics, Its a game about crime. You cant be devoid of it entirely. it has a women in it, its already going to be review bombed by the folks I highlighted above.

The problem is the problem that is happening, not someone bringing attention to what those folks are doing. I never went on "right said this" or "left said this". I explained exactly what happened by the folks who are doing it (they admit their political affiliation, its not me making assumptions). its just a way for you to deflect and marginalize what is actually happening. I would advise not assuming my political position, its probably not what you think, respectfully.

The folks I was talking about have no interest and never had any interest in playing the games. Their sole purpose is to go to forums, say absolutely ridiculous things and mass report anyone who doesnt agree to get them banned. They then create multiple accounts to bypass ban rerstrrictions and review bomb games. They coorrdinate their efforts in communities. And gaming is more mainstream than it has ever been. "Gamers" is a term that is hard to define anymore as nearly everyrone is a gamer in some sort. Its mainstream.
