How do you get rid of x3watch?

My family downloaded x3watch and we don't know how to get rid of it. People told me to go to the add/remove programs and remove it, but it wasn't there. I used task manager to get it to stop running and then I deleted the file, but I'm not sure if it is gone or not. Did I do it right?

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

There should be an uninstaller you can run in the c:/program files/x3watch folder.

Ok, two things we can do.

1. Reinstall the programme and try and uninstall it as per my first suggestion.

2. Go and read this thread HERE and post a HJT log as an attachment into this thread. I`ll see if it shows up and manually remove it.

Regards Howard :)

Your system is absolutely riddled with malware.

Very Important: Before deciding whether you should clean or reformat your system, go and read this thread HERE and decide what it is you want to do.

If after reading the above, you wish to clean your system, do the following.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.

Post fresh HJT, AVG Antispyware and Combofix logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above. Also, post the C:\fixwareout\report.txt.

Also, let me know the results of the AVG Antirootkit scan.

Regards Howard :)

This thread is for the use of tbowman only. Please don`t post your own virus/spyware problems in this thread. Instead, open a new thread in our security and the web forum.
