  1. OK I am a new bee here. Hi!! I would like to know how to rip dvd to avi or mpeg or any other format. You see I have a lot of dvd and I want to rip them in to files so that I can store them on Hard Drive but I do not know what software is best or what codex I need for my computer. I want to rip the dvd movies to small files about 700mb or smaller but around there would be great but I would like to have or get the best guilty as possible but do not take a lot of time to rip the movie. So can you help me in what is best.

the best program to use is hard to get- it's called ripit4me and it is free.

you will need DVD shrink and Fixvts (both are part of the 3 part program.)

you will need to search the web.

or pm me with your email and I can send it to you

of course this is for making backups - anything else would be illegal.

That still only gets you a copy of your DVD, it doesn't get it to an xvid or divx format or even h264 which is what most people want.

Try Mr. Woodc0ck. I'll be suprised/impressed if you can get that one.

But my point was that you didn't answer his question, sure you can rip if off the dvd and shrink it to a dvd5 even, but that is entirely different than getting it down to a 700 meg xvid.
