IE Error

Just developed a new problem and it's driving me nuts. Open IE and it won't connect. Net Diagonistic under IE states a Port 80, FTTP error. Can't access router with the 192.168 either, but can access other machines and files on intranet (PPPOE). Machine MAY work OK under safe boot with network support. Bland IE won't under normal boot. Outlook express may download mail. Subbed in other net card and same result, but net diagnositics stated to consult compouter manufacturer! It appears not converting HTTP addresses properly. Any ideas welcome!

My guess is firewall. After all this time, let us know how things went.

No access to router using numeric IP, but intranet access to other machines & files indicate an address block or the router security is blocking access. Some routers deny wireless access and/or maintain a IP list permitted access.

Firewalls and routers can disable ports, as well.

Reset router (hard, by the microswitch) and turn off the firewall. Reconfigure the router. Re-establish the firewall.

As always, look at the Events logs for clues. Security log may indicate port 80 was turned off somehow.
