Installing Win Xp on A compaq presario 7470

I have been trying to Install Windows Xp on a compaq presario 7470, everytime it freezes on set-up is loading files (setup executive) I have formatted the drive, changed the cd rom, the cd drive, the memory, the cpu, nothing I change seems to work, then I tried to reload win98 and it freezes.
what could this be? Help.....

cpu is AMD-K6-2
533 mhz
128 mb ram

It sounds to me like there is something wrong with one of your pieces of hardware. I would suggest removing everything except the CPU, Memory, CDROM and HDD. Take out your modem, NIC, sound card, etc.

This should eliminate your problems. If not post back
