ok I started installing xp pro on a friends pc, but its going so slow and taking forever. I started around 7pm lastnight and its still going now and its 12:30pm friday. what is causing this? AMD 2.40ghz 1 gig ram, 462 pin socket A motherboard.

OK new developments got a lovely blue screen (gotta love that) Says :-

The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates problems with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly.

Any Ideas as to what I need to be doing now?

Just a stab here, but it sounds like a harddrive issue or harddrive controller issue.

Check that the IDE cables (if you are using them for cd or hds) are properly seated, or replace with ones you know are good. Then boot up with a hard drive diagnostic cd and run some checks on the drive.

Thank-you, ill try the IDE and do a diagnostic,

I tried a different HDD but got the same, but ill defo try changing the IDE's and do the test. thx again :)
