Think this may be an easy problem? I hope.. Ive been trying to fix it for like 2 years... Now more specifically. I am directly connected to the modem.
On my other computer, i am directly connected to the router, then the modem.

Now it happens on both of those computers, but not on the 3 wireless laptops my sisters and mum own.

Applications it happens on include
MSN Messenger. (Have tried other types of IM)
When downloading files.
BattleField2
Warcraft III Frozen Throne
Company of Heroes

I have noticed on these games. It Lags like SEVERLY im talking heaps high ping (999) and then it says im disconnected...
Can you please help me? Ill do virtually anything. Just provide adequate details.
Brad

What OS are you using?
How much CPU Speed and RAM you have in that system with the games on it?
Onboard NIC or are you using PCI NIC 10/100 or 10/100/1000?
Is that set to Auto or 100TX Full Duplex?
Have you ever tweak the Network Buffer and Cache settings on the PC itself?
Which Router wired or wireless or both are you using?
Are you using DMZ on the Router directly for these games?

1. OS - that means like winver? Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
2. 1024mb ram, 3.4ghZ
3. 10/100/1000 gigabytes? or something
4. (I dnt understand)
5. Nope (CPU is stock)
6. I have two computers directly connected thhrough router and modem. I am on one of them? My router is also wireless to 3 laptops.
7. (I dnt understand) whats DMZ

Okay you have enough of a system to manage what you're doing..

Now the router does it have 10/100/1000 ports or just 10/100?
DMZ is a pass through port so you would have full access it bypass the NAT (internal firewall) in the router.

Internet -------
------Modem -------
------ Router ---- wired--- PC1 & PC2 (are these set to auto in NIC)
)))))wireless ))))) Laptop1 & Laptop2 & Laptop3

Auto in the NIC means the router will choose the best settings for 10/100 I don't know if you have a router with Giga ports 1000?

Im nearly 100% sure its 10/100/1000.. Can i check somehow?

(How can i answer your question on DMZ?)

Yes the two computers are wired...
the laptops are wireless...

Im gnna hit the sack
will be online in about 9 hours
please post some details or request ANY information needed and some instructions to get them
