Sometimes after i close the laptop i cant connect to the internet unless I restart the computer...is there any command that would reset the internet ips or whatever so i dont have to restart?

also any useful run commands would be nice to know like msconfig and services.msc

And what Operating System?

Can I have 3 guesses?

My first guess would be the video/display adapter drivers -> Manufacturer website will have any updated versions with dates of release.

Next guess would be Zone Alarm -> sounds wierd with the other two guesses but I have heard this causing it in the past. It's easy enough to test by disabling, go into standbye, then wake the comptuer to see if it is the cause

And the other guess would be BIOS -> Problems with standby were very common in older laptops as the BIOS on many computers wasn't handling it well. May want to check the manufacturer website for updated BIOS while looking for display adapter drivers

Just adding

You can clean your temp files out with CCleaner

And you can go to a command line (Start->Run->CMD) and type:
ipconfig /release
and then press enter, and then type:
ipconfig /renew

This may refresh your network settings, and get you online without restart
