iPhone not charging, not recognized by PC

My Windows laptop all of a sudden has quit recognizing my iPhone so I can't download photos.
Tried two different cables including the original Apple cable, and 3 different USB ports on the laptop.
It has worked well for many months.

I thought maybe I needed to install some updates or something, then discovered that the phone
won't charge when plugged into a regular USB charger, so something must be wrong with the phone.

I blew out the cord socket and made sure the contacts on the cable were clean but no luck, and I
haven't dropped it or gotten it wet or anything since the last time everything worked.

Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

I went to Apple and logged into their support for the iPhone, charging problems.
I noticed a comment while reading thru it to check for debris in the charging port.
I had blown it out but hadn't looked in it, so got a magnifier and a light and, sure enuf,
there was something in there. I picked it out with a pin and now it works!!
